Established by 5 partners in 2020 and lead by Mr Aden, an engineer from France, our spirulina business in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is driven by a mission to create the highest quality spirulina. Spirulina, a freshwater green blue algae belonging to the Cyanophyceae family, is one of the oldest microorganisms on Earth, dating back 3 billion years. Originally found in volcanic lakes of Central America and Africa, it was traditionally harvested by the Kanembu people near Lake Chad for sustenance. In Central America, the Aztecs recognized its nutritional value and health benefits. Spirulina’s scientific name, Arthrospira platensis or Spirulina platensis, refers to its origins in Chad, while Spirulina maxima is associated with Mexico, though Arthrospira platensis has also been discovered in Latin America, India, Asia, and other regions. Today, spirulina cultivation has made it widely accessible beyond its natural habitats.
